Soda Pop and Sleep

I reached my goal for not drinking soda pop!

So, I drank one.

Or,

two.

Either way, it was like sipping on Dr. Death.

I did that twice.

I winced alot.

So, I think I'm just going to be done with it altogether.

Which means no more of the counter. I'm just done for good!

---

I know I haven't been posting lately. Sorry. I'm working on moving to wordpress, no more blogspot for me.

---

Another thing is that I need to better optimize my time. I sleep too late, stay up too late. I haven't been creative lately, just lazy. I watch too much T.V. and I have poor sleeping habits (For the past three or four years, I lost count, I've been sleeping on the basement couch with either the T.V. show "Scrubs" or "King Of The Hill" or "Iron Chef: America" to put me to sleep).

So, since I want this to be a blog about total fitness. Well, not total fitness, but intentional living. I'm going to set some new goals in these three areas: Fitness, Creativity, Lifestyle

The Five W's and an H.

I've been thinking a lot about life lately. About what it means to not just exist, but to live. Asking myself the big questions like "What is this all about?" "Why do I do the things I do?" "What happens to everything I've done, saved, created, etc when I die?"

I've been watching some videos at Ted.Com about life. "Ted" is a conference where the greatest minds in the world come together and just share their ideas about life, business, art, marketing, and everything else you could think of.

One particular video was of Rick Warren about worldviews and how we live. He talked about the in and out of life. Wake up, Work, Go Home, Watch T.V., Sleep, Rinse and Repeat. Then he said this isn't living, but simply existing.

Then he said, how we live, whether we exist or live, is really just evidence of our worldviews and values.

But, I'm sick of seeing videos of famous people, geniuses, and celebrities telling me what life is all about. So, I'm asking you, folks I HIGHLY respect and who's opinions matter dearly to me, what your personal values and what your worldview is. What defines your day to day living/existing? What gets you up in the morning? Why do you work where you work? What your goals? Things of that sort.

When you have some free time, PLEASE, take a couple of minutes to answer the next couple of questions:

1. Where do you work? Why? How'd you decided that what you do for a living is what you're going to do?
2. What are three things you value most?
3. Who are three relationships you'd give your life for? (You don't have to be too specific, simple answers like: my kids, or my wife/husband, my dog, will suffice.)
4. When do you wake up in the morning? And why? (I'm having a hard time not sleeping in since I work at night mostly, and all my hobbies can be done really in the middle of the night)
5. How do you go about making big decisions?

Again, you're all wonderful, beautiful people and I'm excited to hear back from you.

Golly!

Okay, I apologize for the lack of awesomness coming from this blog currently.

I'll explain myself:

1) I'm working on updating this blog to a new server and its taking up a bunch of time.
2) I've been doing a lot of social networking for this blog, and it has seriously cut into my writing time.
3) Even though this blog is one of grace and honesty. Well, lets be honest, I'm shamed about the past two weeks.
4) I'm working like 25 hours at the coffeehouse and about 25 doing volunteer ministry. It's all starting to get to be much and as I figure out an exercise schedule, a healthy diet, and have a life, well it cuts into my writing time.
5) The little writing time I'm finding (maybe every couple of days) is being spent on a big project that I want to have completed by the end of June. I'm about 10% done! YIKES!

---

I promise to still update every day, but, the content may not be as good. Sorry. But, stop in tomorrow there is going to be a special Graduation post!

---

DIET:
BREAKFAST: Coffee
SNACK: Flaxseed Peanutbutter bar

The Whole World Over

I went to an information session about a college program for adults. (The college is in Deerfield, I work an hour from there, I live 40 minutes from where I work. So, I drove 40 minutes to work, then an hour and a half to Deerfield, then another hour home. See how many miles I drove below.)

The college proram has a minimum age requirement that, well, I'm not old enough for it. That makes me really sad. But, when asked if there is a precedent of younger folks getting into the program there was an emphatic yes.

But, it's rare.

After meeting both the dean of admissions and the admissions person for my major, I think my chances of getting in are pretty high!

---

Life is good (even though I'm still fat). I feel like I should've felt after graduating high school, years ago. I'm moving on from certain things that have been holding me back, moving on to bigger things. I'm finally leaving ECC! I'm doing more full time ministry! I'm actually going to be a college where I can get a degree!

---

DIET:
BREAKFAST: Coffee
LUNCH: Great New Delicious Coffee Drink I Made Up**, Cookies
DINNER: 1.5 Roast beef sandwiches, 1 veggie sandwich

EXERCISE: None. None at all.

BIRD ATTACK COUNT: 20
DAYS-WITHOUT-SODA-POP-O-METER: 23
WATER GAUGE: approx. 60 oz.
MILES DRIVEN: approx. 100

---

**Next time you go to a coffee shop and ask for this:
An iced latte, with 2 cubano shots, soy milk, and a hint of hazlenut flavoring (it's super light on the calories, about 100)

Looking For A Sadle

Okay, so, I was bad last week. Exercise became limited, then it became nothing. Diet became lax. Then it became even laxer.

---

The only thing that I did well was not drink soda-pop. But, the water consumption became an all time low.

---

So, I said: "Monday, I'm back on the horse, and we'll ride into the sunset of fitness." But, lo and behold, that particular horse is harder to remount then I thought. Some motivation needs to be found. Here are some goals.

* Come late July, I want to look freaking hot. Well, hotter.
* In early August, there is a six mile race I want to run. I want to complete in under one hour and three minutes (the time I completed it in the last time I competed.)
* In mid-September, there is a half marathon I want to ride.

I need to start training last week.

Quick Update. Expect a Better Post Tomorrow.

Okay, so, I was a good boy this weekend. I didn't eat as horrible as I thought I would. Lets be honest though, I also didn't eat great... You kind of have to eat a beignet or two at Cafe Du Monde. So, I did.

(Beignet's are kind of like donughts. But, way better.)

---

My lady and I walked from about 8am till about 3pm with a few breaks. So, we probably covered 9-10 miles. I'll count that as my exercise.

---

DAYS-WITHOUT-SODA-POP-O-METER: 20

---

Tonight, or maybe tomorrow afternoon, I plan on getting back to regular workouts, intentional eating, and I have some new goals. So, be on the look out for that.
